Finding our footing in the currents of life can be incredibly difficult; almost as if the foundation below our feet is shifting with the tides.
Often with no warning, powerful waves of crisis crash into us; knocking us down and pulling us under.
In an effort to not be overtaken, we try to keep our head above water, but will naturally panic; grasping for anything that might provide relief.
Many times, what we think is helpful turns out to be just the opposite; creating deep despair within. Those who have gone through challenging storms, can attest to the confusion and false points of security we are tempted to grab hold of; when we do, and they inevitably break off, we are left in a worse state than when we started.
If there is an Anchor who offers true stability, how do we tether our hearts securely to Him?
The answer to this question surely holds the key to unlocking Hope amidst life’s many assaults.
The strength of a knot is undeniable; if applied correctly, the harder the line is pulled the tighter the knot will become.
Be it a ‘Cleat Hitch’ knot, which is used to secure a boat to the dock; or the multi-purpose ‘Bowline’ knot, which holds up best when placed under pressure. There are literally hundreds of unique types of knots; each with varying degrees of complexity, yet all sharing one common purpose – Security
We tie knots to secure valuables; knowing there are some things in life that we can’t risk losing.
Which is why, for example, we ‘tie the knot’ during a wedding ceremony; securing a lifelong commitment to our partner before God… a strand of three uneasily broken
And yet, no matter how tightly we hold on to earthly treasures, be it loved ones, possessions or status; all can be lost in a mere matter of moments. Like buoys in the sea, they float on; if these are all we were tied to, our lives will quickly unravel, causing us to drift off and sink into an unknown end along with them.
For there is only one place of great promise and stability; Isaiah 33:6 states ‘HE will be the firm foundation for their entire lives…’
He is the immovable, unshiftable, unchanging One; the true Anchorage our hearts need.
And so, we must form an unbreakable bond to avoid spiritual loosening here; our lives depend on it.
By placing our loose, frayed ends into the solid arms of the Anchor, we can take hold of the promised end and wrap it firmly around ourselves; held below so we may remain steady above.
A knot of this magnitude will take discipline and dedication, but once complete, will be in place for a lifetime and more.
Only through this means, can we be confident to face storms and hardships
Knowing we are held firmly and have complete…
Core Security
