‘For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which He prepared in advance for us to do‘ -Ephesians 2:10
Every man is uniquely created
Not made to be the same; Not meant to be the same
Formed for specific purpose and crafted for certain greatness
One, destined to be the hammer in the Carpenter’s hand; building the Kingdom. Another, the blade in the Warrior’s hand; defending the Kingdom. Or perhaps, the crown atop the King’s head; ruling the Kingdom.
All equally valuable and yet all indeed distinct
Likewise, each one of us are custom made; prepared and destined for a remarkable mission
But which one of us can say we fully understand and embrace the plan for our life?
More often, does it not feel like we are trying to fit ourselves into the same mold? Attempting to function like everyone else, we overlook the deliberate design we were purposed for.
We have fallen to the lie that to display unity means to display conformity; that to be one, means to be the same.
In an effort to display solidarity however, we have sadly lost our identity
The result is predictable; we feel under utilized and question the Maker’s work in our lives.
While harmony is certainly a worthy aim, make no mistake, genuine union relies on diversity. For only in our differences, can we claim a perfect designer has fashioned us to fit together; and only through our given identity can we reflect the many aspects of His.
So then, as long as we have a false idea of what we are supposed to be instead of what we were made to be, we will never allow for the unique, and at times, difficult methods of metalwork needed within us.
Our blunt raw hearts must be put through the forge of life; a lengthy and strenuous process, which refines, purifies and strengthens each unique part of us.
Depending on our heart’s condition, each of our hearts will be in need of varying degrees in heat from the furnace and differing levels of force on the anvil.
This undoubtedly will look different during each stage a man finds himself; meaning the form you take today will likely not be the form needed tomorrow.
For this reason, each season of life will require our willingness to allow the Ironsmith’s preparation and workmanship so that, as Isaiah 54:17 says, ‘no weapon forged against us will prevail’
He, our Maker, is set on the highest level of excellence, for He has a plan that calls us to action.
We are but raw, rudimentary rocks without His transformative work in our lives.
Be confident then, that through our formation, His will is carried out…
In power
In beauty
In function
In His Hands
