There is destruction by distraction
Our world is full of distractions that show up when we least expect them in the most unlikely of places; distractions that will destroy us if we are not on guard.
One of the most effective strategies in battle is called a feint; a false movement that’s main purpose is to act as a distraction from the real attack.
Lions perform a feint when closing in on their prey. The male lion’s intimidating presence and deafening roar seems like the obvious threat; causing the target to turn and run in the opposite direction… unknowingly straight into the claws of the female lioness… the real threat who waits in hiding.
How often have we been focused on what we believe to be the cause of our problems, only to be blindsided by the real threat that was not even in our line of sight?
Sadly, we continue to find ourselves fooled by the distraction tactics of our enemy… we may even find ourselves beginning to desire the decoys that are placed in front of us. So much so, that we will blindly enter darkness; putting our entire camps at risk just so we can have a taste.
What we come to understand is that often the problem isn’t actually the attack as much as it is our own self-awareness, deceitful hearts and lack of self control. We simply can’t find the strength needed to sacrifice our own desires; as a result, we fail to establish safeguards that will truly protect us.
Why is it that we put such a high priority on guarding against physical intrusion or attack, but when it comes to the spiritual, we leave ourselves exposed?
Because the truth is, sometimes we enjoy spiritual darkness; a hidden space to exercise our so-called personal freedoms in private… believing the lie that there are no consequences to our actions.
Yet 1 John 1:6 says that we are “lying through our teeth” if we claim to live in light, but continue to “stumble around in the dark”
Men, so long as we continue dancing with the darkness, the enemy will remain close, observing from the shadows and at first opportunity, enter to wreak havoc; devouring all we hold dear. It’s no different than a thief who examines a homeowner’s routines and waits for an open window to capitalize on their carelessness.
It’s time to “walk in the light” as 1 John 1:7 goes on to say. For only in light, are we able to see truth. And only through truth, can we receive Protection from the darkness.
The Spotlight shines truth into the dark and deceitful corners of our hearts. It will show us every infirmity within that needs our attention so we can invest the proper time and effort needed to completely secure the perimeter around our lives; keeping the enemy out.
Nothing passes in or out without full exposure to the light… No more secrets and no more unwanted visitors.
Once secure, we can confidently stand against the darkness; fully prepared for… Core Warfare
