Salvation

All men bear a heavy burden; one which grows with time, weighs us down and keeps our hearts from true freedom. So often we carry this weight alone, to the point of self-wreckage. All the while, we are amongst others who could help share the load; if only we would call out from the ditches we find ourselves.

We could all learn a lesson from a couple boys who found themselves abandoned at the doors of Boys Town. Founded in 1917 by Father Flanagan, Boys Town sought to serve the neediest and most hopeless boys; boys who each carried their own burden.

One of these boys, Howard Loomis, was left by his mother, plagued by polio, and wore heavy leg braces; which of course gave him great difficulty walking, particularly up and down stairs.

As time passed, several of the home’s older boys would be seen carrying Howard up and down the stairs; distributing his burden evenly across the group.

In one of these instances, when Father Flanagan asked if carrying Howard was hard; an older brother responded matter of factly with ‘He ain’t heavy… He’s my brother’

What a truly beautiful image of our need, and ability to give, genuine brotherly love and care.

“…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

There is an Unbreakable Chain

This chain represents the true brotherhood of faith; Men coupled together and connected to the One who offers us Salvation.

As Acts 4:12 tells us, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Like a tow motor pulling a wreckage out of a ditch; the chain is lowered down to provide deliverance. And while each interlocked link is necessary to the overall effort, it is ultimately the main power source that will do the real heavy lifting.

Likewise, for those who choose to link arms and become one with this chain, there is rescue, security and heroic connection. But for those who deny… loss, and broken separation.

With each wreckage pulled up and out, another joining the line there after to evenly carry the weight; allowing for further reach down to those in need.

If ever we lose sight of our position and importance to the overall mission, know this… Each one of us acts as a link to connect The Hand extending above, to the hand reaching below.

In the end, not one of us will make it without holding onto Him who will never let us go; who will always be there, no matter the danger to lift us to His side and carry our burden.

Men, this is the epic, thrilling and only true, life-saving conclusion to our… Core Rescue
